Running away!

Good morning my friends! Say what? Its not morning anymore, oh my mistake, you see I just rolled out of bed. :P That's right, this week E and I are running away from life, taking our one shot at a vacation and running with it! :) So far we have been golfing, and had a movie marathon, ate pizza for breakfast and stayed up till all hours of the night! That's just two days into it. Then today I arranged the most fabulous breakfast in bed. Yes, so far it has been an amazing vacation and it looks to continue as such! Needless to say I am rather busy soaking up this free time living this life to its fullest this week! But never fear my friends I shall return next week. Have an amazingly blessed week and stay cool my peeps!

High Five for Friday

Happy Almost weekend peeps!

Can I just say that I LOVE summer? Cause I do, really I love all the seasons and if you hang around till September or so you will see my true love is Autumn, however I just love the sunshine and the warmth that comes with summer! The long days, the peaceful sounds of crickets at night, its just lovely. Even though I don't get a real "summer break" there is just something easier and more refreshing about working during the summer. Ok, enough gushing, on to my High 5 for the week, its been a pretty dang great week around here and guess what?!?! Next week is going to be even better!

1. Good the Be Alive ~ Jason Gray This song speaks for itself, Jason Gray has done it again with this little ditty. Not only is the song great, you should take a minute and watch the music video. Funny stuff people, funny stuff!

2. TOMS! Here is the conclusion to the earlier post. I waited around trying to make up my mind on which two pair I wanted, finally I decided to commit and get the Green Apple, and the Hawaiian Blossom pair, sadly they didn't have the Purple Hawaiian pair in my big footed size. :( So I opted for the Sparkly black pair instead.

:) They should be here in about a week and a half! Happy Birthday (again) to me!

3. Evening walks. I know I have mentioned them twice this week but seriously I could take a nice warm walk with my hubby every night. It takes me back to when we were first dating and used to walk and talk loops around our college campus. Last night we played 2 truths and a lie, which is harder than it seems with someone that you have known for nearly 5 years!

4. Thirty One. Yes! A week later I am still going on about this, My party was a hit, and I have even gotten a ton of orders since that I can pass along to Shannon, It's awesome. Plus I am super excited to get my goodies! Most specifically I am looking forward to this little beauty!

  5. Vacation! Or a stay-cation rather. The hubs and I confirmed this week we will get to have a whirlwind whole 6 days together next week! We have been plotting and planning all the fun things we want to do next week. One thing I am most excited about is a potential movie marathon night. We haven't decided yet what movies to watch, but I am pulling for a Tom Hanks marathon. I have never seen some of his best stuff and I am dying to see Catch Me if You Can, Castaway, and Saving Private Ryan.

Any suggestions? What are some of your favorite movies to watch back to back to back?

I hope your week has been awesome and that your weekend is even better! Any Crazy plans?

5things (Gonna go for a walk today)

*Psssst* Guess what?!?

It's Friday eve! Ha ha What, you've never heard it called that before? I just feel like its a good way to spread out the celebration of the weekend. We all could use a little more weekend right?

First off last night was a right grand adventure. Which calls for it's own theme song. So here you go, play this in the background as you look through our adventure.

(I couldn't find one with the original video)
So here we go 5thing
1. My beautiful flowers. They are a constant reminder of God's grace. He doesn't have to cover our world with this kind of beauty, but he does because he is such a lover of beautiful things, and making un beautiful things beautiful. (Also who knew Hosta's bloomed?)
2. Two working (if funny shaped) feet. In recent months I have come to see just what a huge blessing it is to be able to get around on my and without pain. SO really I am thankful for mine and for his two feet too! By the way please be praying friends, in the next few weeks I'll be off my feet once again for a while.

6 of my favorite feet.

Bailey made a new friend last night with one of our neighbors
 3. Neighbors. We live in such a wonderful sweet little neighborhood and last night while on our walk we ran into 3 different neighbors who were all as sweet as can be! I'm thankful for such a friendly, safe, and pretty place to be.

Speaking of pretty, I swear one of Hannibal's redeeming qualities is its sunsets! They are THE BEST.
4. Our home. A girl couldn't ask for a better first home. It's sweet, it's simple, and it's tucked into the best neighborhood.

  5. This dude. Isn't he the best looking guy you've ever seen? I am beyond blessed to call him mine, he is such a fun caring man and he is a joy to be around. Apparently E has been watching too much Man vs Wild he wanted to take off on an exploration into the woods yesterday.

+(Bonus) A good nights sleep. We are BOTH so thankful that we have all been sleeping through the night the last few nights.

The fresh air and the sunshine have really done us all some good, and last night we really enjoyed soaking up every last ounce of sunlight and vitamin D on the longest day of the year!

So what has brought joy to your Thursday today? Any adventurous Husbands or cute little fluffy butts in your life lately?

For Love of a Fur Child

Happy Wednesday!
Just when you think life is about to get boring Wham-o! Here comes a curve ball. Our curve ball this week comes in the form of an eight lb, fluffy, black shi-tzu. Meet Bailey:  She likes coffee. Especially when the mug coordinates with her outfit.
She is the smallest and by far the furriest member of the Geisendorfer household. Technically she is a Wills, just because I married into that big ole' German last name doesn't mean she did too! :) Bailey is 10 years old, she has been my little black shadow since I was 12 years old and I love her dearly. She was seriously the BEST Christmas present ever.
Recently however we have not been on the same wave length, she and I. For some time now she has been VERY vocal.
Bailey never was an overly loud or rambunctious dog. She has always been rather laid back and mellow. However she has found her voice, and she is not afraid to use it. "I am pup, hear me bark!" It really is only when she is in her crate, but she has been crate trained her whole life and nothing has really changed about that.
However when we are coming home as soon as she hears the door she starts to make a ruckus, as if we aren't coming to get her fast enough. Then lately the little miss has been waking up in the middle of the night demanding attention. Honestly she is a grown dog, who can "hold it" all night so it's not like she needs out to do her business... All I can figure is I have a tiny insomniac on my hand, who is bored and lonely and feels the need to let us know.
I'm normally pretty laid back about her behavior but we live in a duplex with some lovely neighbors that have a baby. We are on very good terms with our neighbors (I bake them cupcakes/they love us) and I would like it to remain that way. Plus I have a hubby who is a VERY light sleeper! Needless to say we are desperately seeking a solution. We have tried what seems like everything! A squirt bottle, swats, grounding (during which time she was referred to as 'the prisoner') we even broke down and bought a shock collar (which I was morally against for the longest time) What can I say we were/are desperate! We love Bailey and we really don't want to hurt her but we seriously need to curb this behavior!
Last night I feel like we may have made a break through. The whole family went on a rousing walk around the neighborhood to try and wear us all out in hopes that we would all sleep harder. The truth is it was closer to a leisurely stroll for E and I, her tiny little legs don't go very far very fast. Either way we all got our exercise.

Also I am not ashamed to say that I gave Bailey a 'treat' some peanut butter spiked with half of a Benadryl... Both of these efforts combined, plus no food or water after 9, resulted in a solid nights sleep for all!! WOO HOO... I'm still holding my breath though. We shall see if this lasts, but for now I hope we are all sleeping a little better!

So are any of you out there veteran dog owners/trainers? Is there something that we should be doing differently? Anything we should be adding to our routine that might help in continuing our bark free night? Seriously Ethan and I are just about at our wits end with her! Any tips or tricks for curbing the bark?

June Birchbox

Happy Monday! How was your weekend my friends?
Mine was busy and yet so fun and now I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new Thirty One stuff! :D It's so much fun being a girl.
Also would you believe that I am already plotting Christmas gifts? I am a big fan of adorable functional homemade gifts so I am trying to plan what I want to make for who. I love that since I am married I have more people to make for!
Guess what I found out today?!?! I get a Stay-cation this year! I didn't really think the Hubs and I would get any real time off together this year and then I find out he gets a whole week and my boss was gracious enough to let me off those same days! So now we have a week to figure out What fun (free) we can find in the area to do. Also I want to get the house cleaned, and maybe get groceries bought and prepped so that next week we don't have a care in the world! :) It's gonna be awesome, me, my sweetie, free time!
Now Here's what you all came to see, my June Birchbox!

This month's "theme" Is travel! Love it, cute, simple clean.

Even the inside of the shipping box was decorated. That's the second time this week I have had something decorated like that on the inside, it's just one more thing to say "we care enough to take our time with your order" Very classy Birchbox!

Would you look at all that travely goodness? I am so much more excited about this now that I know I get to vaca this summer!

~First up we have Number 4. It's a leave in conditioner/de-tangeler. It smells amazing and it says that it actually has UV protection. Like sunscreen for your hair.

~Next is this adorable little travel bag. It looks like a zip lock bag only way sturdier and much more fashionable!

~Above is the blender cleanser. Personally I felt a bit teased since I know some people have actually received the Beauty Blender applicator and I just got the cleanser! But it will work for cleaning my brushes.
~To the right is Stainiac, its a lip and cheek stain. This made my day! I have always wanted to try a stain and this is perfect! A lovely rosey color.
~Over to our left (don't I sound like a tour guide?)is actually a men's Birchbox exclusive. It's Jon Varatos U.S.A. It thought it smelled really yummy. Like a well dressed man. The Hubs said it smelled like "Brute" I just think he should wear it, regardless. :)

~Lastly this lovely is a nice treat. They are self tanning towelettes. No muss, no fuss, clean simple and so tidy. No messy lotions or sprays just a simple healthy glow with out the fake bake! Looks like I will have a quick tan for my vacation too!

So much fun summery stuff, this has by far been my favorite box. I looked at it all and there wasn't a thing in there that I wouldn't use! There have been months that I wasn't real sure about what was in my box but months like this I am so VERY glad to have the subscription.(Don't tell but I am seriously considering getting a couple of these as gifts for Christmas this year)

So what about you my friends? Do you have any exciting travel plans this summer? Where is your favorite place that you have traveled in the past?

A Heart Song

Happy Father's Day my friends!

I hope you have had an amazing day with that special Dad in your life.
I just stopped by to share a quick thought. I know I have mentioned before that I can get really connected to my music. One artist in particular seems to get me, and even now 7 or 8 months after her latest EP has been released I am listening to it over and over wishing it were longer! One song off of Bethany Dillon's EP is called To those who wait. Seriously right now it is my heartsong. Just really what my soul is feeling and crying out for. It's the reminder that I need. I wanted to share with you, just as a reminder that He is working even when we feel like all we are doing is waiting.

"You can do more in my waiting, than in my doing I can do."

Have an amazing last few hours of your weekend my friends!

Tuff Stuff

It's been one of those weeks where my mind has been busy. Not on light feathery life stuff, you know going from one thing to the next and then the next just keeping busy. Rather my mind has been stretching over something that was said in the sermon on Sunday.
I know that I have mentioned our church to you in the past, we are a large family of believers and our head pastor is actually simulcast each week to all of the campus'. Jerry is known for his dynamic preaching style but I fully believe that it's not the man that has one so many hearts, rather it's the Lord working through him.
The current sermon series has been on some of the shocking statements of Jesus. The first week we talked about the reality of if your hand caused you to stumble or your eye you are supposed to chop it off or gouge it out. The point being that sin has many ways to creep into out lives and often if we watch out for the 7 or 8 E's (I can't remember) We can stop it cold in it's tracks. This week however hit a little more close to home. In Matthew 5 Jesus set us straight. He pointed out how we have taken scripture and filled in some places that didn't need filled in. We are instructed to love our neighbors but how often do we rationalize that we are ok to hate our enemies? We were never told to do that. Then to top it off, Jesus says that guess what?! Every one is our Neighbor! Say What?!? I'm supposed to love EVERYONE? Even the ones that have hurt and harmed me? Jesus says yes everyone is our neighbor, we are instructed to love in such a way that we can forgive even those that have committed even the worst against us. This is not to say that we have to allow them back in our lives and our hearts but we do have to forgive.
Yes, even those that may view us as enemies, that is between them and Christ. As for us are our hearts in the place to love even the most unloveable? This has brought me to my knees this week. You know that God is speaking IN ALL CAPS to you, when all week every time you turn around there it is smack in the face yet another chance to live out. Yikes! Not to mention two new songs on the radio that confirm that I am not the only one that struggles with this.
One of them is Tenth Avenue North's song Losing.

"Oh Father, give me grace to forgive them
Cause I feel like the one losing"

The other one is by Matthew West and it's so new I can't even find an audio clip. The lyrics just nail it for me.

"It's the hardest thing to give away And the last thing on your mind today
It always goes to those that don't deserve

It's the opposite of how you feel
When the pain they caused is just to real
It takes everything you have just to say the word...

It flies in the face of all your pride
It moves away the mad inside
It's always anger's own worst enemy
Even when the jury and the judge
Say you gotta right to hold a grudge
It's the whisper in your ear saying 'Set It Free'

Forgiveness, Forgiveness
Forgiveness, Forgiveness

Show me how to love the unlovable
Show me how to reach the unreachable

Help me now to do the impossible"

  • Seriously I sat and bawled when I heard this for the first time. Thank goodness for the people that can put this feeling into words and to music that can help my soul feel less alone. Any way I guess what I am saying is that God has been moving. He is on the prowl growing and stretching this unworthy girl, I just pray that I am open and willing enough to soak it up and really learn. Above all I do know that, no matter how I have been hurt or even how I have to forgive:
"Christ is mine and I am His
He gave me my security and it is mine,
no one can take that away from me
    No one."
Thank you all for being here with me on this journey called life as I love and learn my way, one day at a time closer to Him.

High five for Friday

Happy Friday Chum,

I has been a mellow week around here, Photog conference on Monday, Small group in the park, Softball and then just a lovely random night with the hubbs yesterday. I love it! I love my lovely little life.

My High five shall be pictureless today... just because. That way I can focus on the words. :) Ha ha

1. Coffee with Friends. I love it. Stalling after bible study, making our way to our house an hour later, putting the espresso machine to goo use! Love it.

2. Peanut butter. Enough said. I'm obsessed.

3. Diet Coke. My life may be a healthier place without it but what who wants to live in that cold dark sad world?

4. Dark Chocolate. Just found that the darker the Chocolate the lower the carbs! Spiffy!

5. Baking. I have always had a Suzie Homemaker side. It seems she is rather dominant and doesn't like this no-carb lifestyle very much. But this weekend I get a chance to bake up a storm for some lovely ladies at my 31 party! :)

(Gee, now I'm hungry. I wonder why?)

YAY FOR EXCITING WEEKEND PLANS! So how about you do you have any exciting weekend plans? Do YOU want to come to my super cool Thirty One party?

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Have you ever had those days that you feel so much emotion that it just wears you out? Yeah? Today is one of those days. Whew, it's only 3 in the afternoon and I am already yawning.
What I really want to do today is focus on the things I am thankful for. I have found that even though I am blogging about it each week, even if I wasn't I would need this habit. You see I have found that with this discipline each week of counting my blessings, I am literally aligning my heart. It's awful hard to stay grouch and grumpy when you are face to face with all that God has given you. I do know that sometimes my list is very similar from week to week, but that's the beauty. God has given me so many "gifts that keep on giving" it's amazing. Anyway I choose to look at it I always feel a bit more humbled and grateful on the other side of it.

1) Passion. I am thankful that God has filled my heart with innate love to create and capture moments on film. I am grateful for the way it fills my heart when I get a chance to do so!
2) Ingenuity. I am also so thankful that God doesn't always give into all my needs wants. This helps me to grow and stretch and become more grateful for what I do have, and grow my faith in His timing and perfect provision.
3) Compassion. God has filled my heart with a soft spot for others. I am so thankful that I get the chance to love on others and share my loving savior with them. I am glad He made me with a big heart, to love and forgive hopefully as he would.
4)Support. He has surrounded me with some amazing people not only in my family but also my church and small group. They are there to listen and to do life with. It makes an amazing difference to be able to share with others and know that they have your back.
5)Peace. Above all I am so thankful for the peace that passes all understanding that comes from my heavenly father. Even if I didn't have any of the above 4, I would still have this and it come straight from Him. He's got me. That's all that matters.

BTW I am so thankful for all of you guys too. I have 7 followers now and over 1700 pageviews. That blows me away. I know I'm just a tiny little blog but I have big dreams! Thank you all for being along for the ride.

Have a Happy Thursday Evening Peeps!

Party Animal

Guess what I am doing on Saturday!
Go a head and guess!
No I am not petting a rino,
Nor am I building a bi-plane from scratch.
Nope, I'm not even flying a kite.

I am however having a party!
A Thirty-One party.
Have you ever heard of them?
It is a christian company that sells the cutest little bags.

They come in all shapes, sizes and patterns.
You just can't resist them.
That was my problem.
My friend asked if I would host a party.
Then when tempted with the chance to earn a freebie.
I just couldn't resist.

So this leads me to Saturday.
I am so beyond excited.
My mother raised me right.
I know how to throw one heck of a party.
Here is my plan...
The party is at 3.
I will be cleaning and baking all morning.
I'll be totally in my element as Suzie Homemaker.
Then decorating will commence.
I have a couple days, and I want to make bunting.
Maybe 2.
The plan is also to have cute plates and napkins.
I go all out on this kind of stuff people.

Then once everything is in its place it will begin.
Lovely people will arrive.
Smiles will be shared and good food consumed.
Games will be played and laughter will bubble.
Bags and purses will be passed around...
and hopefully lots of sales will be made!

That ladies and gentlemen is my party in a nutshell.
I hope it's even half as fun as this just sounds on paper
Also shameless plug, if you are interested in any Thirty-one products you can go here and take a look around. :)
Can you tell how excited I am?
It's going to be amazing!
Don't you want to come?

It's a good think I like to laugh!

Happy Monday Peeps!

My Monday is looking like it's going to be a great one! We started out with some much needed rain, and it was a pretty rain too. Did you know rain could be pretty? When it's just the perfect temperature and it's softly falling, it's almost prettier than a bright sunny day.
Also I am going to end my day with an adventure. My friend Julie and I are headed to good ole' Stl for a Photo/Photoshop class, conference thingy, and it's going to be so much fun! It's on of my first photo related classes since college and I am really eager to soak up some knowledge. Plus it's a road trip, who doesn't love a roadtrip?
I wanted to let all of you know (for those of you waiting on baited breath) I FINISHED MY BOOK! It felt so good, I haven't read for pleasure, let alone finished a book in FOREVER! It was such a good book, too. If you are looking for something to read I highly suggest you pick up anything written by Liz Curtis Higgs. However I think my next read my be to give Karen Kingsbury another try. I had a HIGH recommendation from a good friend. She loves Karen Kingsbury, and I have read a few of her books before... but she always has a knack for making me cry. Maybe I'll just look for one of her books that seems like a lighter story line. I'll let you know how that goes!
Ok on Friday we had "dude night". As in my hubby and all of his guy friends got together and like a good wife I tagged along! We went to see "Snow White and the Huntsman" let me say... It's not worth your time. It was a neat premise but Charlize Theron (and her character) kinda freaked me out, Kristen Stewart is just out right forgettable and though it was worth it to see Chris Hemsworth plays a supporting character and can't be expected to carry the whole movie! That being said, it was fairly entertaining, but when the last movie I saw was The Avengers this just paled in comparison.
By now I am betting you want to know what I am laughing about. Let me start by saying this. I LOVE free stuff. I got a new dress on Saturday and it was free (mostly) I purchased it with rewards on my Old Navy Credit card and I was thrilled to find a dress that fit my price range and fit and was cute! Needless to say I wore it the next day, and then after church felt the need to do a solo photoshoot!
Many things were discovered over the course of this shoot.
A.) I am not the skinny minnie I once was. Gonna have to fix that.
B.) I always have been and will forever be a goober, where else would I get those faces?
c.)Shooting yourself, is a workout! (and it shows on my face) I think I need a wireless remote.
Without further ado... I present to you the reason it's a good thing I can laugh at myself and that I like to laugh.

The one thing this dress has going for it is the color. Blue is not normally my first color pick, but my friend Mallory who was with me when I bought it, said it was a good look for me so I went with it.
Making a mad dash across the yard leads to some REALLY interesting poses and faces!
Yeah in the future I am not incharge of posing myself... just because it feels cute, doesn't me it is cute! HA
(Side note, I am thinking that the computer is not translating the quality of the images very well)
Needless to say not one of my more successful shoots. The dress is really light and comfy to wear, looks fun when paired with my roman sandals, plus I feel cute in it, regardless of how much a goober I may be! That's all that matters to me.
How about you, do you have any new must wear outfits that you love?

High Five For Friday

It's here again, Friday! I look forward to it all week. When I was young it was always because we would do dinner and a movie, and now it' more because the weekend is here and I get a "date" night with my hubby!

Here is my top 5 things I am loving this week
1.Curls. I have naturally straight hair and I just love curling it. It's a little bit of a challenge with my shorter hair not to turn out like Shirley Temple but I have just about perfected this bouncy wave!
2.Skirts! I have been in either a skirt or a dress every day this week. I just love sundresses and flippy little skirts and honestly I would live in them all summer long if I could! Especially when paired with TOMS.

3.My Fossil Watch, I know I have had it for some time already, but it's almost as pretty as my wedding ring, I always looking down at it and just loving how chunky and class it is!

4.Putt-Putt, (is that how it's spelled?) I love it! It has always been E and I's go to date. I am hoping to sweet talk him into it tonight!

5.COFFEE, It's been on my brain a lot with the coffee bar opening but the smell, the taste, even just making it! Awesome.

It has been a great week here in "America's Hometown" How has your week been?
If you get a chance go Check out Lauren @ From My Grey Desk
and see her adorable kitties and some awesome notebooks from one of my favorite stores!

Have a great Weekend chums!

Sometimes I just let my mind wander

Some mornings when I get my little hiney out of bed in time I enjoy some quiet time on the couch. I normally spend most of that time in scripture and bible study but part of that time I just take a few deep breaths and think. I don't really ponder the mysteries of the universe but I just let my silly female brain do what it does best. Wander aimlessly from one subject to the next. This morning I was reflecting on a book that I am reading.
I am an avid reader and I love to just soak in words. I have never been much of a writer but I sure love to just open my mind and pour in words. To me it is MUCH more enjoyable than a TV show or a movie. Reading may be more of an investment, sometimes taking you months to finish but in the end you are more in love with the story and you feel as though the characters are very near to your heart. It's altogether much more satisfying.
My most recent find is the second book in a series that I started *ahem* well over a year ago *ahem* I am ashamed to say that I have really fallen out of the habit of reading since college, It found I didn't often have that down time to read... so I just didn't, I was lazy with my reading for enjoyment. The author is the lovey Liz Curtis Higgs. I actually stumbled upon her work my junior year of high school when a friend of mine gave my her book Grace in Thine Eyes, I fell in love with it. It is a period christian romance set in 1800's Scotland. Soon after I found that she had written several other books that intertwine with this one and I quickly snatched them up.
Fast forward about 4 years and my Mother has recently discovered her hidden love for reading and is systematically devouring all my books on my book shelf. She this proceeds to find that since I had last looked Liz Curtis Higgs has written several new books and promptly goes out and finds them! She now has me hooked! I loved this author before, I think I love her even more now.
Back to my book. Mine is the Night is again set in Scotland in the 18th century, but the real beauty of this book is its foundation. The author has actually based and shaped this story around the biblical account of Boaz and Ruth. Obviously it's not and exact retelling but its more a parallel. Its exciting to be reading something new and all the while looking for the hints of a beautifully woven familiar story as well. It's fun to know basically how the story ends but you have no idea how it will get there. All of this to say I have really been pondering the beautiful love story, more than the story of Ruth and Boaz, but the FIRST, REAL love story that even this one is emulating. That of a compassionate savior, who full of mercy loved a broken, undeserving girl who had nothing left. Who scooped her up and not only provided for her all her needs but also loved her beyond her deepest imaginings.
It really is amazing, don't you think?

This is just a peek into my book -loving nerd girl obsession with reading. I could go on all day about Some of my most beloved titles. (Have you read Jane Austin, how about Lori Wick?)

Also it's Thursday so...

1. Sunshine and fresh air, I know it's so simple but when you are inside all day you cherish any chance you get to take in the sun and some vitamin D!
 2. Cooking, seriously I love it! It may seem a bit entailed after a long day of working but I love that I can provide yummy healthy meals for my family at a fraction of the cost to eat out!
3. My sweet little apartment. I know I have said this before, but I feel TOTALLY blessed to have such an adorable little place as our first home.(Even if I do get paint envy sometimes.)
4. My hair is long enough to FRENCH BRAID! It may seem petty but I am always amazed by the way God made our bodies to gown and change, even if its something so vain as hair.
5.My job, I may not always love it.... but I am thankful for it. :)

The little things

Have you ever been in a place that is so good, and you love where are but you know something is coming and there in the back of your mind there is anticipation? Have you felt that, longing to enjoy where you are but you can't get away from that feeling of change? The best I can equate this to is right before my senior year of High School. I knew it would be a blast but at the same time I knew there was an even bigger journey on the other side of this school year. I guess this is a philosophy through out all of life... there is always a change coming.
Right now however I am striving to really throw myself into life right now. I'm not dis content with my life... but I'm not so sure I'm content either. Somehow I feel that is ok though. To be striving for more. To be more than a fan. Not so much ignoring today and reaching for tomorrow but trying to make the very most of today. Right now
I feel like I am talking in circles but my point is that God has put me in this place, newly married, with an ok job and very little "real" stress to accomplish something. I want to channel that growing ache to do something into really making a difference for the kingdom.
God really has made my life beautiful and I want to soak it all in, I'm excited for the adventure that lies ahead but for today I want to shine bright. I have a dear friend who is such a light. She always has been, just vibrant, lovely, energetic personality. She is setting out this week on what I consider a HUGE adventure and it makes me so ready to GO and DO but I pause to remember that God has been molding her and shaping her for some time for this and that I still have to allow Him to make the changes in me that I will need for my next big adventure. I have huge aspirations to really leave a legacy, but I guess what I'm saying is it really is the small decisions in day to day life that add up to my life as a whole.

For today I am enjoying wearing my TOMS knowing somewhere there is a person that has the sister pair, who needs the protection for their precious feet.
I will try with all that is in me to speak love to all that I come in contact with, knowing that I may be the only Jesus they may see all day. That is a heavy responsibility.
I want to water my lovely flowers on my front porch in hopes that they will brighten somebody's day as much as they do mine.
I WILL stop, pause, reflect and pull over on the side of the road to capture the sunset.
I will fall in love all over again with the only really lover of my soul that romances me each day and longs that I have faith to believe and make those little choices to add up to a life time legacy.

Have you ever been in that place...

Of java and beans and Jesus

So On Sunday.... IT HAPPENED!

The Crossing: Hannibal finally got its coffee shop! I have been helping to get this project off the ground for a while. The bar was built just for this specific purpose as we had rehabbed the building. I had asked about this particular ministry early on and decided to jump in head first when I was told they were in need of volunteers. Now a few months later I have grown rather attached! I love it. The bar is so classy and sleek. The machines are new and shiny and the coffee... superb. Superb not only in taste but also in mission. You see this coffee is grown, harvested and roasted in Ethiopia. When we purchase the beans the money goes to the mission there. I love it.
So now it comes full circle the people of Hannibal are caffeinated, and I along with all our other groovy volunteers got to be the hands and feet of the church!I adore the hearts of these people, they range from 15 years old to real grown ups better equipped than I, I am sure. From people that have never had a sip of coffee to those with more coffee experience then I will ever gain. It's amazing. I am so thankful for everyone of them.
So how would you like a peek at the coffee bar? You would?
First off those are all the awesome flavors we have right now to add in your latte', cappuccino, or just plain coffee. I'm hoping to amass quite the collection of those. Next is our little beast! Look at that thing, it steams, it brews, it sweeps the floor.... oh wait scratch that last one. And that chandelier, yeah it's one of at least 15 that deck out this cool old building. Ok this last part is my favorite.... you know I am easily amused...check out around the top of the bar and under the counter on that little picture to the right. Those are touch lights! Neat little sparks of light that all turn on with just the slightest tough to the sensor. NEAT-O!
The very best part of this though... the people that will come in to our church, they may come in for the coffee, but they will leave with Jesus.

Dear Father let our little coffee ministry bring glory to you!

Now you know, this is where quite a bit of my spare time has been! I couldn't be happier, being in the ministry and serving coffee! It's couldn't be better!

How do you take your coffee? Black, with cream, latte, cappuccino?

Dear Husband watching you have fun and hang with your buds makes my heart so happy. I am so grateful for friendships that last.
Dear adorable little girls, Your talent rocks my socks off and your sister harmony is beyond sweet, I am totally amazed by your ability to sing so well, and keep up with that rhythm section!! You two deserve a big break, and to make it even bigger than whats-his-face Beiber.
