Well, looky here!

Hey there my friends, how have you been this week?

Today, we had a snow day. Well sort of. The beauty of my job is that it's pretty flexible so I actually worked from home but I got to stay in my comfy clothes at least!

After I was finished with everything I could do, this evening I started on a new project. Something I have never done before.

 photo JustaTouchofGrace_zpsaa0a34b1.jpg

That's right, I made a button!
I was inspired by Autumn and decided that since I am a broke white girl and can't exactly buy ad space I thought up a new plan.

Button swapping! That's right I just wanted to make an offer to any other fellow broke girls (or guys) out there. If you are interested in some ad space but can't exactly afford to buy it how about we swap buttons? I already have a few blogs that I follow and adore over on my side bar but if you would be willing to share my button on your blog, I'll return the favor!

So what do you think? Do you have a button, I am just learning and it took some trial and error but if you want some help I think I could offer that too if you would like!

Leave me a comment let me know if you are interested and we'll get to swapping!

Birchbox again!

Up next December's Birchbox!

That's right it seems I'm STILL opening Christmas Presents... :) This box was full of fun so let's get to it!

Do not ope until Dec. 25th
Christmas Birchbox style is one you don't want to miss. This box was just packed with all kinds of goodies.

First up Color Control Repair Cream from Juice Beauty. I am very familiar with Juice products and was thrilled to see this logo. I truly love this handy lil cream, it was very rich and creamy!

Here I found a different look at a brand that I thought I knew. L'Oreal. This Kerastase Nectar Thermique is a big fancy name for a heat protectant. I have to admit, I'm more partial to a spray protectant rather than a cream but this smelled lovely and did the job!
And, what girl doesn't love lotion. It seems we all walk this world with some degree of dry skin ever in search of a solution, one of the best options Thymes Naia Body Lotion!

As a bonus a cute little trail of another Thymes lotion, the Lotus Santal.

Lastly a great new HUGE trail of a Model Co Shine Lip Gloss. Mine was in Berry Pink which was just perfect for me and I must admit this was my favorite product in this box, it was huge, pink shiny and it came with a built in mirror! Great job on this one BirchBox!!

I have to say of all the boxes I have recieved this one was wonderful each product suited me to a T, it just goes to show you, with BirchBox you just have to stick with it! You know sooner or later you're going to get some GREAT stuff in your box!
I would say the ladies at BirchBox have lucky friends because they know how to give great gifts!

Do you like what you have seen about Birchbox, and want to check it out for yourself? I encourage you to jump on it, they have great deals and offer awesome rewards for reviewing their products plus it's just a fun community to be a part of. So if this strikes your fancy head on over here and tell they I sent ya!!

High 5 for Friday

Hey there Friends,

This week has been a good one, some fun, some not so fun and a whole lot of life.

High 5 for Friday with Lauren: From My Grey Desk (PS Who doesn't love that she spells Grey that way? :)

Photobucket

Seriously, I swear I have the cutest co-workers. This is the pastor's littlest daughter and isn't she just a doll?

This is what we do at small group. Our hosts have several goats and some of them happen to be babies. Since it's been so cold, these babies needed a little help this week so I got to go along for supper time. Seriously, I want goats now!

My Mantra this week. My biggest lesson/struggle lately has been, keeping my eye on and my faith in the one God that I know holds on to me no matter what. Been needing this daily sometimes hourly reminder at my little desk, keeping my heart in the right place. It's true no matter how the ships been battered or how hard it is to see the shore
the anchor holds.

AH HA HAPPY MAIL! I came home to a particularly long day at work to a sweet package with that beautiful mug inside.

Then come yesterday. The snow-pocalyps has descended on my quaint little town and just in time I has some free samples waiting on me to come in from the cold and warm up! Yum!

I hope your week has been the best one yet, and that if this winter reminder has come to visit you that you are warm and cozy safe at home!

Want more High 5s, (and who doesn't?) Head over HERE!

Who Loves Nescafe Freebies?

This Gal, that's right!

In the last few months I have gotten into a few neat websites where to get a few freebies and then you write a few reviews and it's fun all the way around! They get a couple honest opinions and I get some awesome products plus I get to tell you guys all about it.

This go around I got linked up with BzzAgent and heard about a new product from Nescafe called Mementos.

These little gems showed up in my mail just the other day and it just made me giddy. Because come on, who doesn't love mail? Who doesn't love free goodies? Best of all who doesn't love coffee?

These beauties are a quick convenient coffee drink. Rather than having to get out and going to a coffee shop I can have yummy coffee drinks just as quick as I can boil water.

Here's how it works: Nescafe Memento comes in 3 yummy flavors. Mocha, Carmel Latte, and Cappuccino. So pick your flavor.

Then you take your handy little packet, that fits in a pocket or a purse and just mix it with about 10oz of hot (or boiling) water. Mix it up and enjoy! It's as easy as a packet of hot chocolate and as yummy as something you might get at that big coffee shop.

As just a couple bucks a box it won't break the bank and right at 100 calories a cup you won't bust your diet either. My only suggestion... when mixed with 10oz of hot water per the instructions the flavor was a bit milder than I prefer. Now I know several people that aren't into coffee as much and I think it would be great for them, however I was happier with the results at closer to 7oz.

This was such a fun campaign and I really enjoyed it. Is you are interested in trying a few of these out, as part of the campaign I also was sent some awesome coupons for The Mementos as well. If you would like one of these, leave me a comment, I would love to send you one!!

Lastly does BzzCampaigns sound like something you would like to do. Check them out here

PS This is a review for BzzCampaigns and Nescafe Mementos but all of the above is my very own and original opinions. I wasn't paid for this just supplied with samples to try and review!

There really aught to be a sign upon my heart

He's still working on me.

(By the way how totally sweet are these little ladies?)

Do you remember that song. I'm certain I sang it in front of my whole church on more than one occasion while I was growing up. The lyrics go like this:

"He's still workin' on me,
to make me what I aught to be
It took him just a week to make the moon and stars
The sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars
How loving and patient He must be'Cause He's still workin' on me"

It's a song that I learned as a child, but this week these lyrics have been on my heart a lot, and I know that the simple truth behind these lyrics is one that I still need to instill in my heart as I grow. If God spent a week on all of the beauty we see in the world around us then how much more precious and intricate are our hearts if He is so patient to continue molding them every day?

Even more than these are the lyrics of the second verse:

"There really ought to be a sign upon my heart

Don't judge me yet, there's and unfinished part.
But I'll be better just according to His planFashioned by the Master's loving hands"

I feel as if more than spreading this message to others there is some of this that I need to take to heart. I am not a finished product and when my circumstances leave me at the end of my rope and I snap, I don't often remember, "Lydia, He's still working on you" Not as much to give myself and excuse or grace for poor choices (which often I need as well) But rather to change my attitude. It's not that I am a "grown up" and "I have arrived" or I should just be able to handle life as it comes, really my Heavenly Father is still molding me. I'll never really be "done" and my circumstances are never just arbitrary life, it's His hand growing me and changing me into the person He desires. When I look at life through that attitude my perspective is totally different.

Life's not "just tough" and "unfair" It's strategically placed people and events. All to bring glory to our creator. So will I whine and complain about it? Or will I get with the program and work to make it ALL for His glory? Can I dig deep and look for the lessons I should be learning and most of all can I buckle down, dig in my heels and remain faithful to him regardless of what is going on?

So this week would you do me a favor, when this song pops in you head will you say a prayer for my family. We are going through some growing right now and every day is a choice to put on the right attitude and give Him glory in the learning. We know that God has a plan in this but in the mean time we are just going to keep at it and keep singing this song. Bless you all for being such sweet friends.

Birchbox?

Wait what? Birchbox, what's that? It's been so long are you sure you're still getting those? :P Well don't be silly I have just fallen painfully behind!

In November's Birchbox: Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme Petite Cologne, Chuao Chocolatier Assorted ChocoPod, Miracle Skin Transformer, Stila all over shimmer liquid luminizer, and Oscar Blandi texturizing spray.

I must admit the perfume was nice but really it was REALLY potent and after a while began to remind me of my Grandma. (She was a very nice smelling lady). Chocolate and Chips? I am a big fan of salty and sweet together, this was a nice change of pace though I was hoping for a chocolate covered chip and it was more like chopped up chips in chocolate. Skin Transformer, I didn't know what to expect from this but it has been one of my favorite products from this box. I saw such awesome results! Stila shimmer luminizer, I have used several Stila products in the past and I always have liked them. This one is so versatile! Highlighter, eyeshadow and so much more. Lastly the one thing that I knew I would love from the time I opened it. The Oscar Blandi spray, it was a wonderful way to fix up that fresh soft hair and make it more manageable. I promptly used this one right up!

This was a fun box that I was THANKFUL to get!

Somebody has a new coat!

I meant to share these with you for some time. This little cutie had a bit of a bad hair cut and poor girl was nearly naked. Since we were going into the cold winter months we decided to get Miss B a coat.
Now, I am not the kind of serious "dress your dog up" kind of gal, and no offense meant if you are but I don't normally do this, unless it's in jest. But she just looked so stinking cute I couldn't not share!

There you have it.
Little Miss Model dog.
She actually seems to be quite enjoying that coat.
*Disclaimer* in the time it took me to get these picture posted, 'Miss Model dog actually tore up the left shoulder of her coat with what I claim is a nervous habit/itch. Which means I now have to find a way to make her a new 'scratch proof' coat*
Love that dog! :)
And yes she does have eyes its just difficult to capture dark eyes under a fringe of dark hair!

Cool friends, with cool music

So I have this friend. Her name is Allie and she works at an amazing Christian bookstore in the town where we grew up. Occasionally this sweet gal shares her work with me. Seriously she sends the best "happy mail" and care packages. I love going to the mail box and finding a sweet card and some new music.

One of my favorite new groups that Allie shared with me hails from Ireland and they have a great kind of alternative sound. They are called The Rend Collective Experiment and really they are just  group of people that love God and love music and wanted to try something new

New is about right, if you give them a listen you'll find you hear instrument you may not recognize and styles that strike your fancy. If I had to summarize it in one word I would call it all "Organic". It's fresh and yet so familiar at the same time. But the best part of music is the listening. So let's listen:

This is by far one of my favorite songs of theirs, also check out this music video, how cool is that?

These are people I think I would love to be friends with and again I say, THEY LOVE JESUS. It doesn't get much better than that!

High 5 for Friday

Well Howdy,

I must admit, it seems when I get set on one thing I run at it with all of my might and sometimes the other things in my life suffer. Boy I have missed my blog!

High 5 for Friday~ Lauren ~ From My Grey Desk

So here is my week for ya!

I have to admit I'm not always totally enchanted by the town I live in. However, sometimes the sun hits it just right and boy those roof tops sing!

On Saturday last weekend I had the pleasure of lunch with my sister and we got to exchange Christmas presents (finally) She made this cute little cowell, isn't she crafty?

I go through phases and my recent phase has been tea. My favorite this week: Blueberry! Now it's not the best Blueberry I have ever had (it's a bit grape-y tasting) but it's enough to curb the craving!

HA! I can't help but laugh, I look ridiculous. Early in the week I was told that I looked like a cartoon. That's a new one!

Rainy days are some of my favorite. As long as I can stay inside. What can I say, it's a conditional love. But cute boots and an adorable umbrella make going out in it easier.

That's my week in pictures how was your week??

High 5 for Friday

Hello friends,

Ah it's Friday yet again! The best part? It's been a really great week. We have settled back into the "normal"and it is a beautiful thing.

I'm linking up with Lauren From My Grey Desk for her High 5 for Friday to show you the highlights of my week!

1. Over the weekend E and I got to have a much needed date at one of my VERY favorite places, Applebees! (I blame my grandmother for getting me hooked at a very young age)

2. This goofy dude. I know I say it a lot, but I am SO very thankful for him. He is my protector and defender and I must say I love the amount of time I get to spend with him now that he has a new job!

3. That would be our truck antenna. Yep, completely covered in a THICK layer of ice! E and I were in Columbia on Saturday and had to hurry back because the weather was getting nasty and this is what our antenna looked like by the time we were mostly home! It was kind of scary but an adventure at the same time. I knew with Ethan driving we would make it home safe.

4. This week I have committed to getting my hiney back in the gym after my slacking off over Christmas and it feels great! I have been running in the mornings and as I mentioned on Wednesday I'm  training for a 1/2 marathon in April. (I know I may be half crazy but I love having that goal)

5. I finally got into one of my favorite Christmas Presents. This lovely soap, it smells so yummy and it makes my skin feel so soft! Thanks again Momma!

That's my nice normal week for you. I'm so thankful for it and glad to be living this little life God gave me, it sure is a sweet one.

What are you going to do with your Friday? I always get so stoked for them but normally we just have a nice relaxing night at home. Any big plans? Maybe I'll be inspired to do something different!

Something New

I admit some of you may not find this totally exciting but I sure do.
I got new glasses this week! For the most part I am a contact wearing kind of gal but when I go in for an eye dr. visit I normally get both my prescriptions renewed so that they match! Plus who doesn't see their glasses as an accessory? And this girl won't say no to a new accessory!
Last time I got glasses (probably sometime in high school) I ended up getting two pair, mostly because it was a good deal but I found I really liked having two pair. That was my plan going into it this time.
I ended up ordering my glasses online, which is a new concept to me, but I found a great deal and am VERY happy with them!

This has got to be my favorite pair. I'm not sure why they appealed to me. Maybe it's the Superman fan in me, but I just think they are so cute!

And here is my other pair. Simple classy and easy to wear with just about anything!

So what do you think? Do you like? :D

*Sadly my FAVORITE pair was literally wearing away at my nose. So.... I had to exchange them. As soon as I have my new pair I'll be sure to share!

Time to kick some booty!!

So this morning I did something I haven't done in nearly a month.
I hauled my sorry self out of bed around dark:30
Strapped on my tennis shoes
and hit the gym.
I'm sure everybody and their brother has some kind of new years resolution.
Myself, I prefer not to set vague resolutions,
I would rather set a real, obtainable goal.
Something in a real time frame,
with solid numbers
and a goal I can reach.

That's why
I am working toward April
the end to be exact.
That is when the rock n' roll marathon will be
in Nashville,
Now I haven't registered just yet
I have to talk my hubby into making the drive
however wether I am crazy or not
I am officially in training for the Rock n' Roll half marathon.

I found some inspiration from Raechel Myers
She, like me does not like to run
BUT has decided to kick running in the butt and do something about it
so I decided to take the challenge and complete something I started

Now I am only one day in
and as I said I have not registered yet
but I'm not just going to sit on this
I'm getting up and going somewhere
literally.
I'm hoping that you all will help keep me accountable,
because it's about time that I had a new goal.
it's about time I finish something.
It's about time I kick some booty!

High 5 for Friday

Whoa! Would you look at that! We made it to Friday! Go us!

How has your week been? Personally I am so glad to finally get back in my routine after a break for Christmas. It's always awesome to have a break but I find that I really do enjoy 'structure'! So really this week was just a normal one. Here's my High 5 for Friday and I'll be linking up with Lauren over at From My Grey Desk.

1.I started out the week trying to kick a certain stomach bug in the butt. So I guess it's not exactly a "high" but it was how my week started.
2.On monday the last of my "Happy mail" after christmas presents came. I am so thrilled to have a couple more colors of Zoya polish in my collection. Seriously, I was introduced to it by Birchbox but Zoya did all of the convincing with their great product!
3.I have almost made it through 2 whole weeks with this Gel manicure and it looks amazing! Is it wonderful to not have to worry about my nails getting chippy and worn? Sure it is, but has it been worth the $$ Nah I think not. Plus I haven't even really looked into removing the manicure so I have no idea how much of a process that will be.
4. This new album has been playing on repeat since Wednesday. Fantastic to say the least! Burning lights has become my newest music obsession!
5.Lastly I started a new book. Lately it seems that I don't have a great rep with finishing books but this is one I have always wanted to read! Maybe I'll even get E to read it's 'dude' counterpart.

That has been my week in a nut shell. As you can see I am just starting out on a few of my plans for the new year. I'm going to do my best to turn them all over to God and let him have control over the year and see where that lands us at New Years Eve 2013. I'm excited, how about you?

Thankful Thursday

As you may have guessed I am the kind of gal that likes to keep things real and mix it up. I don't always do the same kind of posts every week, but I feel like this is just one habit I just can't shake. (and I'm ok with it)
Thankfulness isn't just something that I need to do on Thursdays, or even with I "think about it". Rather I think it should be a lifestyle and an attitude that I should be cultivating on a second by second basis. So here I am back again on a Thursday with more than enough to be thankful for!

1. I am thankful for my health! Holy cow I am so glad to be feeling better after last weekend!

2. My amazing job. It's always a great reminder when we get together at the beginning of the month for all staff. I love the people I work with and the work I get to do. It's so fulfilling.

3. Wonderful family, both the one I was born into and the one that I married into. After spending the holidays with them all I am reminded how much I love every one of them.

4. A new phone! This one holds a charge and actually places phone calls. Its a miracle!

5. Sight. I got new glasses this week and it really is amazing how much easier your life is when you can see clearly!

These are just a few of all that I have to be thankful for. Especially with all the "extra blessings" that come around Christmas.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

New Year / New Living Room

Ok so it's not entirely a new living room I just changed up my wall art. But I felt that the one little mention and the lame camera phone pictures that I posted before just didn't do it justice. Maybe I'm a bit biased. But it is my blog! :)

My first piece is a beautiful print from Aly Allen over at Blossom & Vine. (And her adorable shot by the same name.) It's very much how I feel about my home. When people are here I want them to feel that same grace that's been given to me.

This is an idea I got from Pinterest. I actually think that the link took you to a store where you could buy something that looked similar to this canvas but really it's couldn't have been easier to make. With a blank canvas some wooden letters and a can of glossy white spray paint I have made several of these (all with different phrases) and given them as wedding gifts. I felt it was time to have one in my home as well.

Yet another Pinspiration, as with all of these projects it has my own personal touch, but the idea is the same. I just took some maps and cut hearts around E's home town and my own and then the center one is where we currently live. This was by far the easiest of my projects but I like how it turned out and that it doesn't look like something a first grader would make... even though they totally could!

Next we have paint chips. Plain and simple I just covered a sheet of paper in a kind of fading gradient pattern and glued those puppies down. (and no I didn't go and take all of these for myself. We had a bunch at the office from when we painted!

Last as far as wall art goes is my love for monograms. It's really just a cute tiny frame and a green G that was used as decor for one of my bridal showers. It's simple and elegant and I think it's so stinking cute!

And here is the finished project! I think I like the way they are arranged... I may end up changing them... I'm never sure about that kind of thing!

Now the last, last is a project that I have been meaning to do for over a year now. When I saw this on Pinterest I was just hooked! The word nerd in me loved the idea and hey we needed coasters so why not! I just ordered a set of scrabble tiles on line, bought some cork from Hobby Lobby (the happiest place on earth) and glued them down and finished it with a couple coats of Mod Podge. Now if I had to do this again I might have found something different to coat them with sick the Mod Podge never totally looses it's 'stick' but they are cute and the work for the time being. So I'm happy. (Also I have to mention I had to you sweeter happier words than the Pinterest version. I didn't need coasters with a bunch of booze related words around my house!)

(it was a fun challenge to come up with enough related, four letter words, that I still had the right letters for. It was like a crafty version of scrabble... or boggle!)

So now my living room looks fresh and happy for the new year, just like me!
